The Laizhou Hong breed was established in the 19th century when German colonizers arrived in the area with their Great Danes and German Shepherd Dogs, and bred them with local dogs, including the Shandong Xian Hound. Described as confident, loyal, friendly, and calm, the Laizhou Hong makes an excellent family dog.
